To my knowledge…I feel that factors from both of these aspects do exist. For example, China presently has essentially three types of enterprises. There are private enterprises, state owned enterprises, and foreign enterprises. In going through the differences between the three, you can see there is a kind of difference between Chinese and foreign culture. Foreign enterprises might require all of their employees to dress in a very professional manner. When they are communicating they have to use very specialized language. This will reflect the style and quality of the whole company. Now with state owned enterprises and private enterprises, there is no such phenomenon. Still, at the same time, when you look at the differences between private and state owned enterprises, you can see that even within the same cultural system, different types of companies will have very different performance. Private companies, for example, do relatively small business. They focus mainly on exchanges among people. And they don’t worry much about products and the specifics of what to buy and sell. But for a large scale enterprise, when they are working with/cooperating with (another company), they will probably place more emphasis on issues related to products, rather than factor that are related (strictly) to the company itself. Therefore, I feel that both of these aspects exist.
