はい、そうですね、全くね、想像がつかないような言語での取り引きね。私の経験では、ロシアとの取り引きだとかね、あるいはアラビア語だとか、また最初の頃私はフランス語が何にもできませんでしたので、フランス語圏とのね、取り引きなんかっていうのはやはりね、通訳を使わざるを得ませんでしたけども、その通訳もですね、単にその言葉ができるという人の通訳に使った場合には、いろいろ交渉に支障がきたすし、また時間もかかりました。従って通訳を選ぶ場合でも、私なんかは特に同じ社内でフランス語ができる人だとかロシア語ができるだ人とかね、そういう人達、そういう人達に無理矢理他の課でも部に属していても、その上司に頼んで助けてもらって、まあそういったやはりある程度ビジネスを知った人でないと、非常に誤解が生じる危険性があるし、そのう、また私のロシアでの経験ですけれども、最後に何も、私はもうロシア語を一つも分かりませんで交渉に望みましたけれども、最後はお互いに裸になってですね、素っ裸になってプールに飛び込んで泳いでね、非常にそのう、何て言うんですかな、お互いが、に信頼感が出てきたっていうかね、交渉が非常にうまくいったような経験もしました。だから何でもかんでも通訳をね、あれするっていうのは、私はもう反対ですね。

Yes. Hmmm… This is quite, well, there are words you can’t even imagine that come up. In my experience, I was doing business in Russia, right, or I could speak any Arabian or when I started I couldn’t speak any French at all, and in trying to conduct business in French, I couldn’t get and didn’t use an interpreter. But, only, even when I used an interpreter who could do the words, there were hindrances within the various negotiations and it also took a lot of time. So, when choosing an interpreter, as for me, umm, I push to get my superiors to help me get from people especially within the same company; from people within my section or division who speak French or Russian. Having said that, to an extent, if the person doesn’t know the business, some serious misunderstandings arise and it’s dangerous. Again, in my experience in Russia, I didn’t know a single word in Russian. Yet in the end, what I expected from the negotiations, in the end we were each naked, completely naked, and went for a swim in the pool, and this was extremely—how should I put this—we each grew to trust each other, you might say. That was an experience in which the negotiations went extremely well. So, ultimately, I’m against using interpreters.
