私が今まで関わってきた二つの分野なんですけれども、一つは銀行業務、もう一つは教育関連なんですけれども、両方と女性であることが、むしろプラスになってきた分野です。で、最初の銀行のほうですけれども、やはり、たびたび日本の会社であるように、やはりトップのポジションというのは男性が占めることが多いのですけれども、銀行においては、女性が本当に、えっと根底の、本当の業務をやっていて、いわゆるベテランも女性で、男性はどんどん転勤するんですけれども、女性は割と転勤の回数が少なくてその業務に熟知しているということで、本当に「縁の下の力持ち」というか、支え役をしています。で、もう一つの仕事の教育関連は、やはり話し相手がお母さん、お父様というよりもお母様、ということが多いので、やはり女性同士、母親と私たちスタッフが話すって、子供にしても、男の人と話すよりは女性と話す方が話しやすいということで、女性でないと、というか、女性のほうがいいというような職場をずっと経験してきたので、まあそういう分野も、多いかと思います。

I have worked in two major fields, one is banking and the other is education-related. In both fields, being a woman was rather advantageous. First of all, in banking, as is often the case in Japanese corporations, you'll see that men mostly occupy the top positions. Yet at banks, women do the real work, they do the real business, and the so called "veterans" (experts) are females. While men are transferred a lot, the number of females transferred is relatively low, and so females know the business very well. Therefore, females are truly what we call "unsung heroes" and play a supporting role. In the other field, the education-related field, you'll see that in most cases the people that you deal with are mothers, mothers rather than fathers. It is easier to talk among females, between mothers and the staff members. For children, it is easier to talk to females than males. I have worked in fields where it is better to be a woman or where if not a woman it wouldn't be as good, so I think there are many fields like that.
