English
Americans tell me, they usually like to have their weekends to themselves, or have vacation time to spend with family and friends and just to rest for a while. I think this is because they are typically forced to keep a very full schedule during working hours and therefore need to set aside the whole weekend for themselves. On the other hand, I think perhaps Chinese people, when their not at work, don’t like working overtime or working around the clock so much just to finish up one job or another. However, they might sometimes come into the office on Saturday or Sunday to do the work then. They aren’t so concerned about whether or not they get an entire vacation to spend with their family or to spend with their kids. When they’re at work, they’re very serious about work, but when they do have spare time outside of work, they will usually set aside some time to be with the family. But it’s also possible that if there is work to do, they will go back to the office and continue working. Americans, though, I really feel their daily schedules are extremely full and it seems to me very efficient. Then on Saturday and Sunday they have their own time. I do not think that this would disrupt the work schedule. On the contrary, having enough free time and enough time to rest could lead them to increase their efficiency in the following week. I feel this is perhaps a difference between the two countries (China and America) in working styles and schedules.
