Americans tend to be very strict about their daily schedules. And so, because I’ve studied business, I have a certain degree of understanding about the Americans and their schedules. Whenever we were at multinational firms, we would run into American upper-level managers who could plan (in advance) their daily schedules for the entire year. And those daily schedules are recorded in great detail. In China, Chinese companies and Chinese people really don’t take daily schedules or pocket planners very seriously. That is, they don’t stick to those kinds of schedules very closely. They certainly would have no way of scheduling every day for the whole year. It’s quite easy to make alterations (to the schedule) and this creates a situation where companies don’t stick with set schedules. Then this may engender a certain degree of bias, within some companies, towards the expected goals. This is because the management of the daily agenda is not good. I feel that the reason American companies and multinational companies coming into China do extremely well is because they bring with them the ability to properly manage daily schedules and agendas. And I feel that this is also a very good thing for us Chinese.
