Dünyanın her yerinde olduğu gibi Türkiye’de de bazı kuruluşlarda maalesef konunun dışına kayılabiliyor. Hiçbir zaman için konuya tekrar dönmeye meyyal bir çalışma kabalık olmaz diye düşünüyorum. Bilhassa zamanın çok hassas bir konu olduğuna inandığım için sahsım olarak, insanların gereksiz yere konulara girerek, zaman kaybetmelerini tasvip etmiyorum. Ben kendim de öyle, bazen müşterilerimle veyahut başka birileriyle yaptığım toplantıda ana gayeyi gündeme getirip, onu neticelendirmek için zamanı optimum şekilde kullanmaya calışıyorum. Bu zamandan arta kalan bir süreniz varsa, yani varmak istediğiniz noktaya vardınız, bir mutabakat sağladınız, bir görüş birliğine vardınız, bir süre zamanınız kaldı. Tabii ki o zaman bazı sosyal şeylerden konuşmakta fayda vardır. Insanlar böyle şeylerden büyük haz alır. Hele hele aynı konuyu, aynı futbol takımını tutuyorsanız, ne bileyim, dünyadaki genel hadiselerde, aynı basketbol, NBA’den bahsediyorsanız, bu iki tarafı da mutlu eden konulardır. Ancak dikkat edilmesi gereken konunun, esas konunun bir an evvel realize edilmesi, neticeye varılmasıdır.

Unfortunately, as with everywhere in the world, people may get off the topic in some areas in Turkey as well. I believe that an effort to get back to the subject would never be impolite. Particularly, as I personally believe that time is such a sensitive issue, I do not approve of people bringing up different topics unnecessarily. It wastes time. For my part too, in a meeting with my clients or others, I try to bring up the main subject to the agenda and finish it, trying to take advantage of the time. If you have some remaining time, that is if you have accomplished what wanted and you have reached a consensus and there is some time left, certainly in that case, it would be beneficial to talk about some social things. People take great pleasure from these things. Especially, if you have the same opinions or are fans of the same team, I don’t know about the general happenings around the world, but let’s say for basketball, if you talk about the NBA, this is something that is enjoyble for both sides. However, the thing that we need to be careful about is to take care of the main topic and conclude it as soon as possible.
