ええ、日本では、そうですね、仕事と私生活の切り分けというのは非常に難しいと申しますか、会社の中には、先ほどのインタビューの中に少し触れましたけれども、退職金の制度とか年功序列の制度とかというもので、社員が会社にしばられるというような風習があります。ですから、社員の中の仕事の、社員の中の生活のメインは仕事と位置付けられている面が、私は多いと思います。ですので、「仕事が一番、生活が二番」とおおげさに言えばそう言えるのかなと思います。ですから、仕事が忙しい時には、もう家庭は非常に犠牲をくらいますし、もちろん土曜日、日曜日に出勤などというのも多くあります。とは言いましても、家庭の事情がある場合にはもちろん会社はそのようなことは無理には申しませんし、まあ、ある程度は自分の生活を守ることはもちろん可能です。ですから、アメリカの、で暮らしている場合と比べますと、日本の方はやはり自分の私生活がかなり仕事に食いつぶされるという面が多いかと思います。

As I mentioned in the other interview, in Japan there are practices where employees are bound by things like the retirement fund system and the seniority system. So, work among employees, well, I think that many times work becomes the main thing in their lives. So I think that I'd say, perhaps exaggerating a bit, first comes the job; second comes life. So consequently, when work is busy, the family suffers a lot, and of course, that means that we frequently have to go to the office on Saturdays and Sundays. Although I say this, of course the company does not force you to do so when you have certain domestic obligations, and it is possible to protect your private life to some degree. So you see that as such in Japan there are many instances where our private lives are eaten up, compared to how it is living in the U.S.
