Türk iş adamları için demek doğru değil aslında, Türk milleti için, Türk toplumu için selamlaşma çok önemlidir. Yani, bir işin başlangıcına ilk adım, sanki selam verilmeden başlanırsa, o iş yürümeyecekmiş gibi his vardır. Selam o işi ısıtır, aradaki buzları eritir, ön yargıları yıkar. Selam kutsal bir şeydir Türk toplumunda. Selam insanların daha hiç birbirini tanımadan birbirlerine kalplerini, gönüllerini açması anlamına gelir. Bir işyerine girildiği zaman selam vererek giren bir müşteri, sıcak bir selamla giren müşteri nasıl iş yerindeki kişi tarafından güzel karşılanırsa, selamsız giren bir müşteriyi o işyerindeki kişi ve de o iş adamı güzel bir hoş geldinle, güzel bir merhabayla, güzel bir selamla karşılarsa, o ilişki başlar ve sıcacık devam eder. Selam Türk işadamları için, hakikaten Türk toplumu için önemlidir. Bunda protokol aranmaz, ama tabii resmi yerdeki selamla, aile ortamındaki selam, bir perakende mağazadaki selamla, yoldaki selam biraz farklılık arz eder. Ama bizler Türk milleti olarak tanısak da tanımasak da mutlaka birisiyle karşılaştığımız zaman selam vermek gerektiğini biliyoruz ve inanıyoruz.

It is not right to say just for Turkish businessmen, but for all of the Turkish nation and society, greeting is very important. That is, there is a feeling, like it is like the first step for the start of the business; if one starts without it, it is not going to work. Greeting warms that business, melts the ice between people and destroys the prejudices. Greeting is a sacred thing in Turkish society. Greeting means opening each other’s hearts and minds to other people without even knowing each other. Just like a customer entering a store with a greeting, a warm greeting, is welcomed nicely; similarly, if the businessmen or the person in the store greets the customer with a nice welcome and “merhaba” (hello), that relation starts and goes on in a warm way. Greeting is indeed crucial for the Turkish businessmen and society. There is no protocol sought with this; but naturally, the greeting in a formal place and in the family, a greeting in a retail store and on the street differ a little bit. However, we as the Turkish nation know and believe that we should definitely greet a person even if we know each other or not.
