English

Mexicans, by nature, always like to give many things. If you come to Mexico, the first thing that they will give to you is a smile. So they think that when they give you something, they are giving part of their friendship to this person and if they receive a gift they are doubly considered your friend. One isn't offended at receiving a gift. What one does do upon receiving a gift is one puts it aside to not offend the person when you open it, and later they will open it up in private and will send a little note saying "thank you so much for the gift" and they will send another gift. So in this way the Mexican is always giving, besides their smile, all the courtesies that were shown to them and they will try to return those courtesies in some other way.
