OK。

English

OK, there are a few minorities in China. For example, where I live, Xinjiang, it’s a minority autonomous region. Uh, usually, for example, if we have disputes of some kind, when we deal with them, we’ll do as, as, as much as possible to respect minority customs. [We’ll] do everything possible to reduce ethnic conflict. As for the, uh, for example, gender, I think that gender, hat there is less sexual discrimination in China now, but there’s still, I think there’s still a strong, uh, tendency to see male children as more valuable than female. For example, uh, this kind of problem is particularly serious in rural areas. Now everybody’s just allowed to have, uh, have one [child]. For example, everybody, [if] you ask, um, usually every, if you ask, uh, one, if you ask anyone, they’ll all sigh and say, “I want to have a boy.” I think this attitude of theirs towards, towards gender has been around since ancient times, maybe because rural areas rely on manual labor. I think that domestically [prejudice based on] skin color, it doesn’t seem to exist in China. [I] haven’t paid much attention to what kind of color prejudices exist, or how people are treated differently. Um, OK. Thanks.
