In Taiwan, what, which school someone studied at is extremely important. If you didn’t study at a good school, people will probably judge you differently. This is especially true for some Taiwanese parents who like to use their kids to measure themselves against others. I think this is… for me, this [creates] a kind of invisible pressure. But some [parents] don’t actually [do this]. Moreover, when, for example, when you’re looking for work after graduating, the school where you studied will have some influence on your job search. But I think that the situation is gradually improving. Studying at a good school doesn’t necessarily make you a good student. And studying at a bad school doesn’t mean you are a bad student. Good schools also have bad students, and bad schools also have good students. I think this is… this is what I think. Now, the older generation’s idea is that they hope their kids can study at a good school. They hope they can have a better [life]. But what I don’t really like is that they use their kids to measure themselves against other people. That’s it.
