えっと、私の仕事で対象になっているのが、世界の６９校の大学、４５カ国における６９校の大学ですので、相手はいろんな言語をしゃべっています。英語だけではなくて、いろんな言語を扱っています。ですので、基本的には全体に対する連絡っていうのは、必ず英語で行います。で、個々にそれぞれの国に対してお手紙やＥメールを出す時っていうのは、できる場合はその国の言語を使う場合もありますけれども、やはり限界が、能力の限界があるので、英語を使うことが多いです。で、日本語を外国の方に使うという場合は、日本語を勉強している方、日本語がわかる方だけがいる場合には日本語を使いますけれども、一人でも英語しかわからない、日本語がわからない方がいらっしゃる時は、英語を使います。

Well, I deal with 69 universities in the world, 69 universities in 45 different countries, so the people speak different languages. They use not only English but also various languages. Therefore, basically, I use English when contacting the whole. When I send letters or e-mails to each country individually, I might use its language if I can. Yet, there is a limit; as you see, my proficiency is limited, so I use English in most occasions. In case when I use Japanese toward people from foreign countries…when there are people who are studying Japanese or when there only are people who understand Japanese, I use Japanese. I use English when there are people who do not understand Japanese, even if there is only person who understands only English.
