Bizde, yani Türkiye’de, özellikle tabii şirketlerde, güçlü firmalarda iş ciddiyeti çok önemlidir. İşte iş yapılır, iş konuşulur, özel hayata pek fazla girilmez. Ancak, belki öğlen yemeği saatinde özel konular konuşulabilir. Fakat iş saatinde bu tür şeyler hoş karşılanmaz, veyahut laubalilikler hoş karşılanmaz. Biz eve iş götürmeyiz, işi işte bırakırız. Hatta, çoğumuz evde eşlerimizle iş konusunu konuşmayız, görüşmeyiz, anlatmayız gün boyunca ne oldu ne bitti diye. Aynı şekilde evdeki tartışmalarımızı veya olayları da işe taşımayız. İşte bunları anlatıp, vakit kaybına veyahut herkesin bu konuları bilmesine gerek görmeyiz. Tabii ki, bazı meslekler, işleri icabıyla, iş konularını eve taşırlar. Yani, öğretmen imtihan kâğıtlarını eve getirir, evde okur, işte notlarını verir. İşte, avukat, yetişmemiştir, çalışmasını evde tamamlayabilir. Tabii bunlar özellik arz eden konulardır. Seriousness at work is very important for us in Turkey, of course, especially in companies and powerful firms. We do work at work, we talk about work and do not deal with private lives much. Yet, we may even talk about it during the lunch breaks. However, during work hours, this kind of a thing is frowned upon and sauciness is not tolerated. We do not take our work home, we leave it at work. Most of us even do not talk about work and discuss it with our spouses, and do not tell them what happened during the day. In the same way, we do not carry our arguments and things that happen at home to the workplace. We do not see it necessary for others to know such issues and do not want to lose time. Naturally, people in some professions, due to the nature of their job, bring their work home. That is, a teacher brings answer sheets for an exam and grades them at home. Again, a lawyer may complete his work on a case at home, if it has not been completed at work. Certainly, these are special cases. Yet, in general, home and work life are separate. We may invite our friends from work to our house. When they come over, we do not go into talking about work issues in any ways. We chat, talk about sports, games and politics, but not about work. In other words, our social life, home and work are completely separated.
