<span style="font-family: Palatino;">Стереотип о том, что американцы не знакомы с иностранными культурами, с иностранными языками, базируется на том, может быть, основании, что американцы в принципе мало перемещаются за пределы американского континента и редко выезжают в Европу, в Азию, и действительно они может быть не так много знают про многообразие других культур. Но что самое интересное, когда я общаюсь с американцами, вот эти недостатки в познании о культурах очень хорошо компенсируются уважительным отношением к чужим культурам. То есть скажем я представляю очень маленькую страну, Белоруссию, где есть незначительный, скажем так, бизнес, она не так широко представлена в мире, тем не менее, я всегда встречаю открытое отношение, дружественное отношение к Беларуси, всегда интересуются, а какие у нас бывают культурные события, интересуются языком, пытаются даже научиться говорить, то есть вот эта дружественность и открытость к общению, она компенсирует то, что люди недостаточно знают про многообразие культур. В Европе это естественно - очень много маленьких народов, маленьких стран, и любой европеец знает про это многообразие. Но при этом это не значит, что они относятся уважительно друг к другу, скорее наоборот, встречаются очень часто проявления всякой ксенофобии, может быть боязни соседей. А вот в Америке этого не наблюдается. В Америке все прекрасно понимают, что Америка настолько большая страна, что она может себе позволить не бояться чужих культур, а наоборот, с вниманием и уважением относиться к их существованию.</span>

But what's most interesting, when I talk with Americans, these deficiencies in their knowledge about other countries are very well compensated by their respectful attitude towards other cultures. That is, for example, I represent a very small country, Belarus, where there is insignificant, let's say, business, it is not so well represented in the world, however, I have always encounter an open attitude, friendliness to Belarus, they are always interested in what kind of cultural events we have, they are interested in the language, they even try to learn to speak it, so this friendliness and openness to communication, it compensates the fact that people do not know enough about the diversity of cultures. In Europe, it is natural, there is a lot of small nations, small countries, and every European knows about this diversity. But this does not mean they treat each other respectfully, on the contrary, the manifestations of xenophobia are very common, maybe some fear of neighbors. But in America, it is not observed. In America, everyone is well aware that America is such a big country, it can afford not to fear other cultures, on the contrary, treat their existence with attention and respect.</span>
